U.S. Surpasses Norway as Biggest Oil Exporter to U.K.

The U.S. in January surpassed Norway to become the biggest exporter of oil to the U.K., according to data from oil-tracking firm Kpler. 

Last month, the U.S.--powered by relentless shale-oil growth--supplied the U.K. with 264,000 barrels a day of crude, compared with 218,000 barrels a day in December. 

Norway, the U.K.'s traditional supplier of North Sea crude, exported 181,000 barrels a day to Britain in January, down from 282,000 barrels a day the month prior.
