U.S. Inventories of Crude Oil Unexpectedly Fall

U.S. inventories of crude oil unexpectedly fell last week, according to data Wednesday by the Energy Information Administration.

Crude-oil stockpiles fell by 4 million barrels to 466.6 million barrels, but still remain right at the five-year average for this time of year, the EIA said. Analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted crude stockpiles would rise by 200,000 barrels from the prior week.
